The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced **Senior Medical Officer (SMO)** to join the dedicated team at **Normanton Hospital**, located in the Gulf of Carpentaria. This is a rare chance to combine **meaningful medicine** with the unique lifestyle of remote Queensland.
You’ll provide **comprehensive clinical care** across emergency, inpatient, and primary care services, while working with a multidisciplinary team. You will also support the administrative and medico-legal requirements of patient care and contribute to the mentoring of junior clinicians.
✔️ Competitive pro rata remuneration up to **\$776,126 p.a.**
✔️ Base salary between **\$182,106 – \$266,677 p.a. (L13–L27)**
✔️ Attraction & Retention Allowances + 15% Rural & Remote loading

✔️ Professional Development allowance + 3.6 weeks PD leave
✔️ 5 weeks annual leave + 17.5% loading

About You
To succeed in this role, you will have:
* Medical degree and **current AHPRA registration** (or eligibility)
* **FACRRM or FRACGP/FRACGP-RG/FARGP** (Rural Generalist qualification highly regarded)
* Advanced skills in one or more areas (e.g. Emergency, Internal Medicine, Anaesthetics, O\&G, Paediatrics, Mental Health, Indigenous Health, or Palliative Care)
* A commitment to rural health, Indigenous healthcare, and multidisciplinary teamwork
