We are seeking a Principal House Officer (PHO) or Registrar to join a well-supported and accredited Emergency Department within Mackay Hospital & Health Service.
A PHO or Registrar is a medical practitioner in their fourth or subsequent postgraduate year following eligibility for full registration. In this role, you will contribute to the provision, development and ongoing delivery of an effective, efficient and equitable clinical service, while supporting the continual improvement of medical education, training and knowledge dissemination to staff and patients.
This position offers excellent clinical exposure, structured training pathways and strong senior support within a progressive regional health service.
About the Team
The Emergency Department is a busy, well-resourced unit comprising:
* **21 Acute Bays**, including:
* 2 Resuscitation Bays
* 4 High Dependency Bays
* **12 Consultation Bays**
* **14-bed Short Stay Unit**
The department is accredited for:
* **ACEM Specialist Fellowship Training**
* **ACRRM Advanced Skills Training (AST)**
* **RACGP Core Generalist Training (CGT)**
Mackay ED is an **Adult/Mixed, Non-Major Referral Base Emergency Department**, accredited as a **Tier 3 Training Site** providing **12 months of Emergency Medicine training**.
Additional training opportunities include:
* ACEM **Foundational, Intermediate and Advanced Associateship** programs
* **Non-Emergency rotations** in Anaesthetics, ICU and other specialties
* Strong exposure to **Point-of-Care Ultrasound (POCUS)**, supported by an experienced FACEM cohort
